Renewal of our minds.
Romans 12: 1-2
As I read “Living Water” from Brother Yun I come across some of the
most amazing stories and beautiful acts of faith and I yearn to be
a part of that. I spoke with a good friend of mine earlier whom I
consider to be a spiritual leader in my life, and he told me that as
he read through our bio and some of our lyrics he thought to himself
that it was so intense; he began to pray for me and prayed that
we would not just write about these things, boldness and urgency
but that we would live it out.
I was ashamed in one moment and uplifted the next. It is so easy for us
to be comfortable, and to think that the missions trip we go on once
every two years really is doing some good. Don’t hear me wrong, I’m
not saying it’s not, but you are where you are for a reason.
Do we honestly think that the TV and movies that we waste hours
and hours upon aren’t stealing away an opportunity for us to serve?
Do we not truly take the quality of living that we’ve been given for
granted every single moment we are awake?
You may not, but have you attempted to examine it?
I’ve been given a challenge to live simple in order so that I may give
generously. Even when it feels I’ve got nothing left to give, I’m
reminded of the millions worldwide that don’t have half of what I’m
even wearing. This isn’t a call to action necessarily, but I certainly
want to urge my brothers and sisters to allow the words of Paul to
sink deeply into your hearts and let them penetrate your soul.
Do not conform to this world, be transformed.
”1Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual[a] act of worship. 2Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
