The Crazies.

I see a growing trend in christianity today, and it has a lot to do with “me.”
It’s about what I what, what I think, what I desire, my passions and so on.
These aren’t evil things by any stretch of the imagination and I like what I like too.
I’m not here to point the finger or suggest that it is inherently wrong; not completely.
Here’s the thing, the main thing, a dude named Jesus that died for you and for me.
Ok, off to a good start.
Well, he started this thing that became what we know as christianity.
With no Jesus there’s no cross, and with no cross there’s no christian faith.
Christian literally means, “little christ.” So the idea is to act like the dude, Jesus.
Alright, here’s the problem (and don’t worry, there’s a mirror here) we aren’t acting like him. It’s tough for me to even say that because I know it probably upsets people, especially christians and not only that but it opens me up to ALL the criticism you can hurl. So let’s get this out of the way, hi my name is Aaron and I’m a sinner.
I’ve done a great deal I regret, and it’s taken me longer than I would have liked it to for me to get my “act” together but slowly but surely I fall into the arms of grace offered me by me Savior; the dude I keep talking about - Jesus.

Alright, feels good to let that go eh, now you know I’m just as jacked up as anyone else. BURN. You see, I keep hearing people talk about being christians and then there being absolutely no evidence of Jesus within them or in the vicinity and all I can think is “do they know what it all means?” People can write books about it, even christians sit around at Starbucks and speculate about it, but we were given this legit book called the Bible and it helps us understand all these issues. It actually documents the life of christ and his apostles as well as some other pretty amazing historical occurrences and people. Another question, why are christians so afraid to read this book?

Here’s the next deal, without the Bible you can’t adequately live out the life that you’re hoping is a christian one. You can’t live off sermons and messages, and you especially can’t live off of other christians speculation and opinion. You need the word of God and you need it like we need air to breathe. So I bring up “the crazies” because a lot of christians I met in the past that I just thought were nuts or crazy may have just had it all along. The “holy” factor of being set a part, it just doesn’t make sense some times. Sure some people can take it pretty far, but it’s undeniable when you meet someone that has put absolutely all they have into following after Jesus; the original crazy.

Jesus was crazy, he called out King’s and people of power. He said things that went against the laws and customs of his time, he had dirty feet and was probably pretty dirty. If you didn’t know, he isn’t a white dude and he’s from the Middle East, of all the places!? But seriously, Jesus was the original B.A. and there’s no denying it. I could go on and on and on about it but the whole idea here is if you’re in question or if you’re confused just run to Jesus. Open your bible and start reading about him, the more you know about him the more you can become like him and the more you become like him you can rest assured you’re on the right path. When I think of Jesus, Paul, Job, David and so on I think to myself, “man those dudes were crazy.” They did things you and I wouldn’t dare, and had things happen to them we would pray fervently God spare us from.

I’m ok with being that crazy christian guy, or the dude that can’t shut up about Jesus. Now, I just need to start being that guy.
